Everything But the Kitchen Sink Salad: My Weekly Wellness Prep Updated Ritual

Everything But the Kitchen Sink Salad: My Weekly Wellness Prep Updated Ritual

MOST Sunday's ;)  I stand at my kitchen counter and do one of the most underrated skincare treatments available....I make a dense salad.
I know, I know. But hear me out. What you eat is the foundation your skin builds on, and after 25+ years working with women on their skin health, I can tell you the inside-out connection is real.
The clients whose skin transforms fastest? They’re the ones doing the work in the kitchen too. #truestory
This salad isn’t precious. It’s not Instagrammable in a perfectly styled way. It’s a big, bold, throw-in-everything bowl of anti-inflammatory, skin-nourishing ingredients that I prep once and eat from all week.
I call it the Everything But the Kitchen Sink Salad, and it might become your new weekly ritual too.

Why Weekly Food Prep Is One of My Non-Negotiable Healthy Habits

Life gets busy. When it does, we reach for whatever is easiest, I know I do, and easy doesn’t always mean skin or gut-loving. Doing one big food prep session on Sunday removes the decision fatigue that leads to skipping vegetables entirely mid-week.
The goal isn’t perfection. It’s consistency. A salad you can grab in 3 minutes on a Tuesday morning? That’s more powerful than a pristine smoothie bowl you make once and never again.
This is the same root-cause philosophy I apply to skincare. We don’t just treat the surface, we address what’s driving the issue. Chronically inflamed skin, dull complexion, breakouts that won’t quit, your diet is often in the conversation. And the good news? Your fork is already in your hand.

What Goes Into the Kitchen Sink Salad (And Why It Matters for Your Skin)

Here’s what I load into my base, feel free to use this as a framework, and add your own green love to it.

The Anti-Inflammatory Base: (I buy organic and on sale)!!!
  • Arugula + dandelion greens (bitter greens support liver detox, which shows up in your skin) my two faves.
  • Shredded purple cabbage (rich and powerful antioxidants, reduces inflammation, and promotes healthy gut microbiome.
  • Brussel sprouts, shredded broccoli, parsley, red onion, red bell pepper.
  • Pepitas, or shaved baked cripsy almonds
  • Corn, black beans, soy beans
  • Radish, celery
  • Thinly sliced fennel (digestive support = clearer skin)
The Protein + Fat Layer:
  • Hard-boiled eggs, fish, steak or grilled chicken (amino acids for collagen benefits)
  • Avocado (oleic acid supports skin barrier, great for the gut — yes, please)
  • Pumpkin seeds or walnuts (zinc + omega-3s for inflammation control)
The Color Bomb:
  • Roasted beets, shredded carrots, cherry tomatoes, whatever looks beautiful at the market
  • Fresh herbs — parsley, mint, basil, cilantro— these aren’t garnishes, they’re medicine

Add and delete ingredients. Make it your own!

The Dressing (keep it simple):
A good olive oil, lemon, dijon, garlic, pinch of salt. Make a big jar. Done.

The stuff in bottles at most grocery stores is full of seed oils and additives that quietly contribute to inflammation, and inflammation is one of the root causes of accelerated skin aging and dis-ease.
Speaking of root causes, if your skin is sending SOS signals even when your diet is on point, it might be time to book a virtual skincare consultation so we can look at the full picture together.

How I Store It So It Actually Gets Eaten

The secret to a salad that lasts 4–5 days without turning sad? Keep everything separated until you’re ready to eat.
I use large glass containers with locking lids — one for the dry greens and veg, one for the proteins, one for the dressing. When I’m ready to eat, I grab a bowl, layer it up in under 2 minutes, and I’m done.

A few things I reach for in my kitchen prep setup !

The Bigger Picture: Food Is Skincare

Here’s what I want you to take away: the salad, the supplements, the glass containers — they’re not separate from your skincare routine. They are your skincare routine. Radiant, healthy aging is built on hundreds of small, consistent choices, and a big bowl of vegetables every day is one of the most powerful ones available to you.
Your skin is talking to you. Feed it.
