Apparently I’m a Hurricane Now: Karina, Chaos & the Art of the Reset

Apparently I’m a Hurricane Now.
There are moments when the universe whispers.
And apparently there are moments when a Category 4 hurricane is named Karina. Is this a sign from the universe, quite literally :/
Subtle, but loud.
I woke up to the headline and did what any rational person named Karina would do:
I laughed.
Because there is something wonderfully ironic about seeing your name attached to words like intensifying, powerful, unpredictable and moving across the Pacific.
I mean…
Could be worse.
Could be boring.
And while the real Hurricane Karina is thankfully far from land, her arrival made me think about the other little hurricanes that sweep through our lives.
The weeks when everything seems to happen at once. (These moments, have indeed felt like a ever changing hurricane.
The relationship that shifts.
The friendship that suddenly feels different.
The house that needs clearing.
The business idea that won’t leave you alone.
The moment you look in the mirror and realize the version of you staring back is ready for something new.
Chaos gets uncomfortable.
Even in stillness, unsettling energy forces movement.
Sometimes disruption is exactly what needs to happen.
Enter: The KismetK Hurricane Reset
No boarding up windows required.
Just a little ritual for those moments when life feels energetically… windy.
First: Clear something.
A drawer. Your bathroom counter. Your handbag. Your inbox. That shelf full of products you haven’t touched since 2022.
Physical clutter has a funny way of becoming emotional background noise, and part of the decor.
Remove what has expired, what you don’t use, what you don’t love and what belongs to a former version of you.
Next: Water.
Shower. Bath. Steam. Cleanse.
There is something beautifully primitive about water as a reset.
Simply stand in the shower and feel the water intentionally hit your crown down to your feet. Powerful.
Wash your face slowly. Exfoliate. Put on the mask you’ve been “saving.” Massage in your favorite oil. Moisturize your entire body instead of stopping at your neck.
Not because skincare fixes your life (it certainly does help)!
Because taking deliberate care of yourself changes the energy with which you return to it.
Then: Scent.
Light something beautiful.
Apply the perfume that makes you stand a little taller.
Use the body oil that turns getting dressed into a ritual rather than another task.
CLEAN Scent is one of my favorite shortcuts back to ourselves.
Finally: Decide what isn’t coming with you.
This is the important part.
Every good storm rearranges something.
So perhaps the question isn’t always:
How do I get everything back exactly the way it was?
Maybe it’s:
What has the storm moved and or revealed?
An expectation?
An old identity?
A habit?
A pattern?
A relationship dynamic?
A belief about what your life was supposed to look like by now?
Sometimes the most beautiful thing about disruption is discovering you don’t actually want to put everything back.
For me, disruption can be distracting when I’m caught off-guard.
Conscious and present living for prevention!
Beauty After the Storm
I think this is one reason I’ve always been fascinated by beauty rituals.
They look like they’re about serums and oils and masks and fragrance.
Sometimes they are.
But underneath all of that is something much more interesting:
Attention- To Self.
The moment you deliberately tend to yourself, you come back into your own orbit.
Maybe that’s why I’m smiling at Hurricane Karina.
She’s somewhere out over the Pacific, being dramatic.
And I’m over here thinking:
Of course she is.
May we all know when to make waves.
May we know when to clear the debris.
And may we be wise enough to recognize when a little disruption is actually making room for something better.
Welcome to hurricane season, apparently.
And safety to all!
— Karina
